New Beginnings (Original Work/Where Shines the Sun Aslant)
Title: New Beginnings

Fandom: Original Work (Where Shines The Sun Aslant) x Pokemon
Characters: Hilbert of Rasfura/Solange of Fleuyer
Notes: Spoilers for Pokemon Legends Z-A (contains descriptions of a new Mega Pokemon). My jaw was literally on the floor when this Pokemon was revealed, it looks so much like my OC that I had to started writing a Pokemon AU right away.
Summary: Solange gifts Hilbert the royal Key Stone on their wedding day.
Solange hesitated over the box holding her father's Key Stone. It had been her stepfather's Key Stone too, although she hated the thought so much that she preferred to think of it as simply belonging to her father. She did not like the thought of gifting it to the soon-to-be new king much better. But if she didn't acknowledge him as the new king, her people would suffer until she did. In truth, she had no choice.
She also looked through the glass cabinet in the king's study which held some of the kingdom's smaller treasures. A shelf was fully dedicated to the kingdom's collection of Mega Stones. If there existed Mega Stones other than the ones there, no Fleuyan knew about it, for if they did, they would hasten to add them to the royal family's collection. She selected the one that was predominantly green bisected by a red and yellow stripe and placed it next to the king's Key Stone in its box.
During the wedding ceremony, Hilbert gave her his wedding present first. The dagger he presented to her made her heart stop and her stomach feel ill. For a moment, she was too offended to want to give him her own gift. Altaria shifted next to her, letting out one sweet note. Solange was startled to realise that it was one of appreciation. Hilbert undoubtedly did not know that it was considered offensive to gift a knife to another person in the kingdom. Perhaps in his village it was even a gesture of friendship. She steeled her resolve.
'My gift to you, sire,' she said in a voice that did not tremble. 'In the Kingdom of Fleuyer, the ability to Mega Evolve his partner is a symbol of the king. This Key Stone has belonged to the royal family for over 300 years. With this, you will be able to Mega Evolve Chesnaught.'
Hilbert looked surprised. 'This - this is a splendid gift indeed. Thank you, Queen.'
His amazement inexplicably embarrassed her. She opened the box for him without another word. He lifted the pendant which held the king's Key Stone, the morning sunlight splitting the prism inside to spread its rainbow out over the crowd.
'Let your Chesnaught hold the other stone,' Solange said after a few seconds of Hilbert simply eyeing the Key Stone reverentially. He quickly did so.
Hilbert's Chesnaught, which she had heard called Amund, was a large specimen. Most Chesnaught would be smaller than Hilbert, but Amund was several inches taller than him. It took the Chesnaughtite almost as respectfully as Hilbert had held his Key Stone, then nodded at its trainer. Hilbert raised his Key Stone.
The dais glowed brightly as Amund transformed for the first time. Having never seen a Mega Chesnaught before, Solange was as surprised by the transformation as Hilbert. Amund emerged with more bulk, more spikes, more majesty. What looked like a crown glinted on its forehead, like the one that had been newly placed on Hilbert's head. The bushy face, the sweeping fur cape, the heavy shoulder guards, were nothing less than the striking image of Hilbert himself. Hilbert extended his hand and Chesnaught clasped it in its claws. The crowd before them roared with applause.
'You look magnificent, my friend,' Hilbert said softly.
The affectionate look in the eyes of the warrior king was almost a bizarre sight to Solange. Even tyrants treasured their Pokemon, she told herself. But it was hard to think that his feelings were not genuine and a part of her whispered that she was seeing Hilbert's true nature for the first time.
