Hilbert's proposal that she marry him doesn't sound much better either, but afraid of the consequences for her people, Solange reluctantly agrees. Contrary to her expectations of being the tyrant king's bride, Hilbert's gentle treatment of her begins to change her perception of both him and their relationship.
Notes: I'm actually so sad I finished writing this so hopefully that points to it being as good a read as it was a write.
